NIKON D3300 Review
Visually, the D3300 has quite the same body as its predecessor. Since it’s equipped a new compact kit lens that leads to a smaller and lighter overall package, you find it easy to carry around. With a collapsing design, the new Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6G VR II kit zoom can retract to a shorter length for easy storage. When in use, the kit can be easily released to reach the same length as the previous 18-55mm kit zoom within a push of a button and twist of the zoom ring. To retract the kit zoom length down to 60mm, you simply twist the zoom ring back and as a result, the weight of the camera will be 70g less than the previous weight.
Inside the camera, you can see the only changes in the sensor and image processor. Although the D3300 shares the same sensor resolution of 24 megapixels as its predecessor, it now lacks an optical low pass filter for slightly crisper results. The processor is upgraded to EXPEED 4, the latest generation processor. Compared to the EXPEED 3 found on the earlier D3200, the EXPEED 4 delivers faster operation, more exceptional image capture, more in-camera filter effects, and others. The power of this processor also supports Full HD video recording at multiple frame rates of 24p, 25p, 30p, 50p, and 60p while increasing the speed of continuous shooting up to 5 frames per second. Meanwhile, all the rest of it including the same body, controls, viewfinder, screen and AF system are as same as the predecessor D3200.
On the Nikon D3300, the Wi-Fi adapter is not built-in but attached as an optional tool for wireless connection. In this way, it’s easy and instant to share photos with your compatible smartphone or tablet. Also as a result of the Wi-Fi compatibility, your compatible smartphone or tablet can also be used as a remote monitor for the camera.
